I always curry my painting kit with me, this category contains watercolour work created during my stay in Cyprus.
One of my favorite parts of the world. This is Venice even though the original shot taken by a friend was taken late in the morning, I thought that a sunset would be a more suitable setting for such a magnificent city. I hope you like it S
The original photo was taken by Shahjahan Ahmed a wonderful friend and fellow watercolour artist. Thank you Shahjahan for posting your image and look forward to catching up with you again soon.
Painted this one just after the first rains fell in the village of Kofinou. Sometimes the simplest composition just takes your breath away and if the light is right it’s even better
I hope you like the painting and give you the same sense of peace and tranquillity that I felt whilst painting it. Happy New Year Everyone !!!
This morning was exceptionally beautiful, no time to waste, just scramble together my easel just barely managed to stretch a half sheet of paper and before I even realised, I was half way painting what was in front of me. I hope you like it and share it, I also gives you as much peace as I felt while I was painting it.
At the end of Finikoudes (palm trees) you come against this incredible structure. A quick glance at Wikipedia will tell you that even though Larnaca has been inhabited since the 14th century B.C. The Castle wasn’t erected until the 12th century A.D. Now days it’s a wonderful museum with a great atmosphere and some wonderful exhibits. What I love about this place is that the water literally laps up against its walls. The other landmark of course are the amazing street lights. I spent a lot of my teenage years around this place and even though it changed a lot especially the past few years, it still retains all it’s charm and magic. I hope you like the painting and if you have some time, drop in and take a look
This is just one little corner of the village of Lefkara. The village it’self dates as far back as 1134 but what I loved about this corner is that at the other side of the arch you can still see the old town water outlet where the villagers used to get their daily supply of water. I painted this early this morning just when the light was coming through the narrow streets and the place just looked amazing. I hope you like the painting and look forward to hearing from you all.
This is a wonderful little corner from the old city of Kyrenia, my inspiration was an old black and white photo from the 1940s but my love for this place originates from the time we use to visit here with my family as a little kid up until 1974. The magic of the old port and the fort next to it was and still is, far beyond my vocabulary to describe. I guess only someone who lived around these parts during that time could understand. The whole place was full of life and being a small town everyone knew everyone and more importantly, somehow everyone knew they shared a piece of paradise. I wish I could capture it better, but I guess that’s something you need to have in front of you, imagination alone is not enough.
I hope you like the painting, and hope one day we will be able as a country to experience that again. With all my heart and best wishes…
Welcome to Savva.co
Hi, my name is Savva and I am a watercolour artist. It has been my passion right from the start. From the first time I put brush to paper. I love everything about watercolour but most of all, its unpredictablility. It has a mind of its own but if you allow it, oftentimes it will paint for you. No other medium will do that or give you the same buzz that watercolour does. The most engaging of all media.
