I always curry my painting kit with me, this category contains watercolour work created during my stay in Cyprus.
By far the most touristy city of Cyprus and yet still retains the old world charm that I love so much.
Limassol was built between two ancient cities, Amathus and Kourion, and during Byzantine rule it was known as Neapolis (new town). Limassol’s historical centre is located around its medieval Limassol Castle and the Old Port.
I painted this just around the corner of the old castle in a side street. The church at the back is Ayia Napa Church.
Hope you like it.
This is Saint Lazaros Square in Larnaca. A wonderfull open square full of life and history.
This one was painted in Old Nicosia. This is truly an incredible city.
I was here just temporarily to pick up some paper and supplies, but just around the corner from the shop I was visiting was this amazing site.
It was a rainy day but the light was wonderful. The atmosphere and the vibe of the place just took over. I had to paint it. the size is 35cm x 56cm and even though i had a hard time with drying times I am very pleased with the results. I hope you like it
I often get asked “Why did I pick watercolour over oils or acrylic”. To this day I get a rush as I am answering that question because in a way every time i put brush to paper I find my self wondering the same thing. The answer is as complicated as the medium itself.
I love the way it’s free, it has a life of it’s own, there’s no controlling it, it moves, it blends and takes on a character that regardless of my efforts to try and manipulate , it just does it’s own thing. The rush you get when a wash works out, the exhilaration and satisfaction of watching it all come together while at the same time being terrified that one brush stroke can mean the end of it keeps you so hyped up it’s like taking the wildest ride in a roller coaster. The bottom line is that it’s simply the most fascinating medium I have ever come across.
Welcome to Savva.co
Hi, my name is Savva and I am a watercolour artist. It has been my passion right from the start. From the first time I put brush to paper. I love everything about watercolour but most of all, its unpredictablility. It has a mind of its own but if you allow it, oftentimes it will paint for you. No other medium will do that or give you the same buzz that watercolour does. The most engaging of all media.
